About the Clinic

Nicole’s Clinic offers Acupuncture in conjunction with Chinese Herbal Medicine and adjunct therapies.

Acupuncture

Your pain relief and return to a good quality of life begin with having hair-thin needles placed in the skin, usually painlessly. For thousands of years this complete medical system has found that our bodies have natural healing power. This power is accessed through many points on the body which, when stimulated, produce a powerful response to increase blood flow to areas of dysfunction. The most commonly needled points are in the lower arms and legs so there is no need to disrobe. For those who dislike the idea of these single use, disposable surgical stainless steel needles, we can also access these points using magnets or cold laser/red light therapy.

Chinese Herbs

Many conditions can be treated using Acupuncture alone. With some conditions, we combine Acupuncture with Herbal medicine. These herbal formulas are prescribed specifically for your condition based on extensive research into your health concerns and pulse examination. We only use herbs that are grown and processed with the most stringent safety measures and are third party tested for any heavy metals or contaminants. Our herbal suppliers are of the highest quality and prescribed with ample research and support.

Other treatments

Anti-aging Acupuncture can help fine lines and sagging skin. It’s also great for scars, acne and other skin issues. Our FDA approved photobiomodulation light therapy encourages collagen production and reduces redness and age spots.

Moxabustion is great for treating inflammation. Knee osteoarthritis and Plantar Fasciitis are two areas where we see significant positive results. Moxabustion is an ancient therapy where tiny pieces of a dried herb, Mugwort, are burned on needles to warm them or directly on a protective ointment on the skin. This creates a soothing sensation, increases microcirculation, and reduces swelling.

Cupping is another ancient modality that has been widely popularized by movie stars and athletes such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Michael Phelps. Cupping is generally done on the back for conditions like muscle spasm or tightness, but it can also be used to reduce symptoms from asthma and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). It can seem like magic when you are having trouble breathing and within seconds of having the cups applied you can breathe easily.

E-stim is also widely used in an acupuncture clinic. We apply tiny cords to needles and turn on a comfortable electrical stimulation to help retrain muscles and the nervous system to forget the habit of causing pain.

Our FDA approved Red light therapy device is used in our clinic in conjunction with acupuncture to treat pain and skin issues like acne and wrinkles. This relaxing treatment increases the circulation of highly oxygenated blood into the cells building ATP to promote healing. For acne it has been shown to kill the bacteria to clear up blemishes as well as prevent future outbreaks.

Nicole Stockholm listened to my story and asked specific questions about my activities and resulting injury. She tailored a plan for me, including not only acupuncture and Moxa, but diet and lifestyle recommendations to increase healing and circulation. Her tranquil home office was a relaxing backdrop, and any anxiety about the hair-thin needles has disappeared; my chronic pain is gone, the inflammation is shrinking and I can move freely again.
